Sick Bands You May Not Know - Syphilic

Syphilic is the one-man project of Brian Forgue. Forgue plays guitar, bass, does vocals and programs drums all by himself, and unlike some solo death metal acts, he doesn't disappoint.



I only recently got a chance to listen to his latest full-length release "Behind Bars" which came out in March this year. I had already listened to his other album and EP extensively, both of which I thought were great. His new album is even better. There's also something to be said about a guy who has released two albums, an EP and a demo all without a label, not to mention other band members. He's pretty fucking talented.

Brian Forgue is fuckin' metal.

Death Metal and Cooking

Steve Hughes is an Australian comedian and drummer. Nazxul, Slaughterlord, and Mortal Sin, are just a few of the bands he's drummed for over the years, and he's also pretty fucking funny.

He's got a unique brand of comedy, and Nazxul kick ass, so I'd recommend checking out his other stand up work (one clip is below) as well as some of his bands.

Pimps of the Living Dead

The Dying Process is a song from Lithuria's 2010 release "Pimps of the Living Dead", and to be honest it's some of the best slam death I've ever heard. Easily my favourite album of the year. The tracks are short and punchy, heaps of variance in vocal style, and even some thrash influence. What's not to love?

In terms of metal, Ironman's suit contains a significantly smaller percentage of metal than Lithuria does; as can be seen in the diagram below.

The most badass restaurant in the world

I shit my pants over how fucking metal all the items on this menu are. They even used the phrase "metal as fuck" right there on the menu! I wouldn't even be surprised if this place was actually located in hell, or maybe in some sort of Scandinavian forest littered with snow. Kvlt.

Metal Grandma

Being metal isn't all about having a beard and never getting a haircut. While both of those things are awesome as fuck, they're not integral to being metal. Tattoos don't make you metal, and neither does corpse paint.

Jesus fuck... you're doing it so wrong, kids. You're going to realise how much you looked like asshats some day soon.

Dawn of Demise

Whether you're a fan of death metal or not, Dawn of Demise are worth a listen. These guys are fucking metal. I've heard people describe them as being pure Suffocation worship, but I've got to say that drawing influences from a band doesn't mean you're sucking their dicks.
